When I was a child my nickname was Pud, short for Puddin'.  It made sense to me to become an expert in PUD's

PUD stands for Planned Unit Development.  This is a small neighborhood that is built with a common area.  Often PUD's maintain the lawns and streets and charge a fee.  At times there is a fence around the PUD and the entrance is gated.  These items are not necessary for an area to be considered a PUD, however.
